Youth's Premier: Albion Rovers 0 Kells Youth's 6

5 Sep 2021 by Alan Tormey

Kells travelled to Louth with four of the six All-Ireland winners back in the fold and, after a slow start with missed chances, Kells took the lead when the excellent Jojo Ogunebe broke down the right channel and put the ball on a plate for Ben Brecknell to slot home. After spurning numerous chances, half-time saw Kells lead 1-0.

The 2nd half started in the same vein with Kells creating chance after chance and the lead was doubled when Kit Óg Lynch twisted and turned leaving 2 defenders sitting down before stoking the ball past the keeper. Then Kells really got going… Jojo was next up with a powerful finish before Alex Flood Norton got in on the act to make it 4.

Kit ÓG made it 5 shortly after with a clinical finish before Jojo netted again to make it 6.Jojo thought he had a match ball twice before the end only to be flagged offside on both occasions which were dubious to say the least. Special mention for Josh Hennessy who made his Youths team bow at full back and never put a foot out of place.

With another Meath minors returning next week, the Youths will be looking to make up lost ground over the next few matches.
